latteCosmic Hosts: Latte Art Throwdown

Design by Cosmic, Santa Cruz

5 PM, All Ages

Free

FREE EVENT! Bring your love of caffeinated beverages and art to the Cosmic studio on Friday, February 5th for a head-to-head competition featuring local, and bay area baristas. Hosted by Cosmic, The Abbey Coffee, Art & Music Lounge, and Chromatic Coffee Co. We’ll be showcasing the effervescent and ephemeral art atop aromatic latte.

It goes down like this:

  • 30+ competitors sign in at 5PM. There’s a $5 buy-in at the door to participate.
  • The first Throw Down happens at 6PM, when 2 baristas perform their magic. We’ll have overhead cameras set up so that everyone can see the artists in action.
  • A panel of judges declare the winning piece of foamy art.
  • Throw Downs continue until half of the pool of baristas are eliminated.
  • The winners go at it round after round, until one is crowned the winner!
  • The winner takes home the pot.
  • Consolation prizes go to the 2nd & 3rd place winners.
  • Bam!
  • Bonus – Attendees get to drink the lattes.

But there’s more. We’ll have Chromatic Coffee bag art on display along with related art from other distributors that supply The Abbey.

And then there’s the Pop-Up Market – Chromatic coffee & schwag, Abbey schwag, + other coffee merch to take home and make your own art.

Of course there’s bites and brews to go along with the competition. The Abbey will be on hand with Cold Brew Coffee on tap and we’ll be pouring Many Moons stout from Brewery Twenty Five & an IPA from Corralitos Brewing Company.

What food pairs with all that coffee madness? You’ll have to attend to find out.

Know a barista who’s a consummate latte artist and ready to bring it to Santa Cruz? Send them here to register: http://goo.gl/forms/C6fghgc2fO

Want to attend and cheer on your favorite coffee slinger? Please register so that we can be sure to have enough bites and drinks on hand.
