dbbbqDirtybird BBQ 2016

Treasure Island, San Francisco

12 PM, Ages: 21+

Dirtybird started with a grill and some speakers in Golden Gate Park and, needless to say, we’ve spent the last ten-plus years expanding and perfecting our recipe for summer fun. Yet the basic formula is always the same: good food, good people and some seriously saucy, booty-shaking tunes.

The 2016 BBQs are going to be better than ever, as we’re bringing County Fair flair to the incredible Treasure Island. We’ll have fair activities like Best in Show contests, tons of carnival games and a major upgrade on our classic fare – for an additional $20 ticket, you get a full plate of authentic BBQ deliciousness. Yup, it’s going to be a summer to remember.

ice-creamIce Cream Social and Tasting Party with Chez Panisse

Omnivore Books, San Francisco

3 PM, All Ages

Omnivore Books on Food is a teeny Noe Valley bookstore, their shelves packed floor to ceiling with hundreds of new, antiquarian, and collectible titles, on all manner of food and cooking.

The store hosts frequent events including book signings, chef talks, author readings, cooking contests, and food and drink tastings.

Chez Panisse veterans Anthony Tassinello and Mary Jo Thoresen show you how easy it is to recreate the flavors and comfort of your local ice cream shop at home in this irresistible celebration of all things sweet and frozen.

The posting says “free with ice cream” so that sounds like they’ll be giving out free ice cream samples, we hope.

Focusing on simple yet creative flavor combinations, Ice Cream Social walks you step-by-step through basic techniques to make your own ice cream, sherbet, granita, frozen yogurt, and other delightful treats—from the classic and nostalgic to the surprising and festive.
